Here Comes the Sun

Time to reclaim our beach images and hit the gym or the great outdoors. But how many of us start a ‘get fit’ campaign with masses of gusto and enthusiasm that lasts for two to three weeks then fizzles out?

To achieve any results, you need to be exercising for a minimum of six weeks before your holiday.

So :

1.     Keep It Simple

Brisk walks, running up and down stairs and 10 minute floor exercises  on a daily basis can make all the difference.

2.     Stretch

Maintaining supple joints and long elastic muscles prevents still achey    bodies and reduces cellulite.

3.     Footwear

Always check your trainers. Those comfy ‘old friends’ can lead to foot,          knee, hip and back pain due to lack of support and worn out soles.

4.     Never

Never run or train in bare feet, especially on the beach. Barefoot       walking or running on beaches can result in Achilles tendonitis or      bursitis, tears in the calf muscle, planta fasciitis and knee strain due to          the gradient and the ‘give’ of the sand. If you must run or walk  barefoot on the beach, the best place is IN the waters edge where the     sand is firm and the gradient almost flat.

Good luck and keep at it. It works if you work it!!!
