Suzanne Liddle – Practice Manager

I joined Whalley Physiotherapy in July 2007.  We are a small, friendly team with 4 Physiotherapists, 4 Reception Staff, a Yoga Teacher, a Pilates Teacher, a Dietician and 3 Doctors who use our practice for their private clinics and it is my job to ensure that the practice runs as efficiently as possible.   I enjoy my ‘Girl Friday’ role – no two days are the same.  My background is in banking and the experience that I have gained from this fits well into the financial side of my role.

I live in Whalley with my husband and two children.  When I’m not working and running around after my family I enjoy going to the gym, shopping and socialising (not necessarily in that order)!!

I trained in Liverpool and began my physiotherapy career working in the NHS in the Burnley area.  After a few years I began working in a private practice and discovered the benefits of having more time to spend with patients on an individual basis and at present I work full time here at Whalley.

After qualifying I developed a special interest in spinal problems and did some courses in Manipulative Therapy.  This led to membership of the Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP),

I work with ladies who have incontinence problems and other related conditions and over the years I have developed a rehabilitation programme for the pelvic floor muscles.  Mr T C McN Inglis, Consultant Gynacologist, regularly refers patients to me for this treatment.

I decided to train as a Pilates Instructor as I am a firm believer that this exercise is great for low back problems in particular.  I really enjoy doing the exercises myself and seeing the benefits in others.  I am a member of the Australian Pilates and Physiotherapy Institution (APPI).  I run small classes and teach individual sessions.

At the weekend there is nothing better that putting on my hiking boots and going for a long walk.  I particularly enjoy the Lake District and long distance paths – I just wish that I had time to do more!

I qualified as a Dietitian in June 2001.  Since then I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, helping me to build extensive knowledge and practical skills.  For the past four years I have been specialising in Gastroenterology at Royal Blackburn Hospital and have special interests in coeliac disease, IBS/functional bowel, food allergy/intolerance, cancer and ethnic minority diets.

I am registered with the Health Professionals Council (HPC) and am recognised by all major health insurance companies.

Referrals

I accept consultant and GP referrals.  If you wish to use your medical insurance you may need a consultant referral and you should ring your insurers prior to your consultation.
